Senior Infrastructure Engineer

This exciting role will allow the ideal candidate to expand their server, networking and cloud infrastructure skills and apply them in a consultative manner both internally and with clients. It is suited to an experienced IT infrastructure professional keen to move their career to the next level and develop into a skilled business technology consultant.

Main purpose of the role

Ensuring our client facing services excel by supporting network, server and end user infrastructure whilst developing and deploying systems to automate and improve efficiency of our management tools.  The candidate will also be expected to consult with clients to help them use their IT systems as effective business tools.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Management of cloud and traditional infrastructure technologies
  • Developing our investment in automation and monitoring technology
  • Research new technologies, service improvement and problem resolution
  • Mentoring junior staff and assisting with training
  • Delivering exceptional levels of customer satisfaction
  • Dealing with escalations from the first and second line teams
  • Scheduled visits and rotations on client sites
  • Work with the team to help grow our business

Knowledge, skills and experience

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
  • Experience in a 2nd and 3rd line IT support role
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
  • Experience in managing and deploying the following technologies:
    • Office 365, Azure Active Directory, Azure AD Connect
    • Windows 7/8/8.1/10
    • Exchange Server 2010/13
    • Active Directory, Group Policy
    • Windows 2008/2012/2016 Server
    • Cisco switches, routers and firewalls, WatchGuard Firewalls
    • Ability to configure and manage switches at layer 3+ level
    • Advanced email security – Preferable Mimecast
    • Image based backup solutions – Veeam, StorageCraft and Datto preferable
  • Knowledge of network fundamentals including OSI model, TCP/IP and tools/functions such as WINS, DNS, NSLOOKUP, TRACERT & PING
  • Autotask or Connectwise Service Management System
  • Infrastructure monitoring / Network Operations systems
  • Advanced PowerShell knowledge
  • Industry recognised qualification – MCSE or CCNA preferable
  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn
  • Full driving license
