Copper Street Capital is an alternative investment firm focused on financial services and invests across public and private markets. It has recently celebrated its five-year anniversary and has offices in London.

Pro Drive worked with the business to facilitate an office move and update its IT.

Migrating systems to the cloud has positioned the company perfectly for hybrid working.

THE CHALLENGES

Copper Street was moving to another premises in London and wanted to make the process as smooth as possible within a short timeframe. It needed to remove servers prior to the relocation and negate the need to utilise costly office space for server rooms. Some of the company’s IT hardware needed replacing to fit the modern workplace.

THE APPROACH

Pro Drive IT and Copper Street devised a solution which removed the servers and transferred services to the Microsoft cloud. Moving to the cloud facilitated the office move and also reduced costs.

Products were chosen carefully to suit the needs of the business:

  • Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop
  • FluidOne Microwave Leased Line
  • RingCentral Phone System

This allowed all existing on-premise and datacentre-hosted servers and storage to be retired.

THE RESULTS

A secure remote access system was built using the latest Windows Azure Virtual Desktop technology, allowing staff access to a secure corporate desktop from anywhere. This enabled flexible working and operation in a DR scenario.

Computers were connected to Azure AD and Microsoft Endpoint manager for serverless management and login.

Phones were moved to the high-quality RingCentral pure cloud phone system to provide independence from the existing on-premise equipment and ensure that staff could connect to contacts wherever they were seamlessly. This also provided better disaster recovery functionality.

The file data was moved to SharePoint to provide more flexible access and allow the use of data retention and access policies, which improved security and compliance.

Improved compliance was achieved by moving away from a traditional file server and storing files in the Microsoft SharePoint cloud.

Finally, the solutions have provided Copper Street Capital with the capability to deploy further productivity and security improvements using Microsoft 365, when the business is ready to take advantage of them.
